Great question! Bearing weight is tricky and takes time and patience to learn how to do so, as the payoff is tremendous. So here are:

Five Things You Can Do If Your Wrists Hurt in Down Dog

1. Engage the muscles around your shoulders. Here are some great tips for building arm strength. In addition to building strength in the shoulders.

2. Turn the hands out ever so slightly.

3. Roll the hands and forearms out at day’s end with a golf ball or physioball.

4. Use your legs!

5. Learn what your forearms do and what your upper arms do in order to put the breaks on hyperextension.

Try these tips and see what sticks. One of the best features of yoga is that we do it over and over, letting us find new actions and new terrain in the poses pretty quickly.
