1. You can now register for any and all Mala Yoga classes online! It’s not just for weekends anymore. Schedule your practice as you plan your week, or drop-in when you can fit it in – 50% of class registration will be online and 50% will be walk-in. Click here to register now!
2. The yoga community in NYC is in a slight state of chaos at the moment. The state is proposing to tax all yoga classes in NYC, collect back taxes on studios, and force all studios to claim their teachers as employees versus independent contractors. Read more about it here, here, and here.
Also, to garner support and raise funds, Mala Yoga will be holding a benefit class on Saturday, April 7th. It’s called “Spring into Arm Balances” and will be taught be Angela, Steph, and Christina! Come support yoga in NYC as well as take advantage of the few and far between opportunities to have the three lovely owners of Mala teach together. No MBO sign-up; come early.
3. Retreats! We’ve got Vermont in October and Guatemala in January. It’s a great way to escape the city and deepen your practice. Read more here.
4. And, we have a run with Hot Bird Running on April 14th. Meet at Mala at 9:00am. $15 cash, or check made out to Hot Bird Running. The workout involves approximately two to 2.5 miles of running with intermittent stops to perform muscle-building exercises. It will be challenging for all levels. Must be able to run a 10-11 minute mile.
